Dutton Half-Leather Very Good No Jacket 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall Illuminated script version of Portia's soliloquy from Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice," Act IV, Scene I. Text is gilt, with blue capitals and red filigree. Decorative boards are white half-leather with peach cloth and stamped gilt titles. Floral motif with Portia's face against a gilt background. Frontispiece is Portia in her lawyer's robes, against a gilt background. Minor nicks to gilt of frontispiece, and small area of color loss to Portia's face on front board. Interior lightly foxed. A pretty example of Victorian-era sentimentality. Price: 35.00 USD
